THE CONNECTION OF CHASTITY TO CHARITY

I have often wondered after the root cause of what makes a people "wax cold" - I believe firmly that there are "gateway" behaviors that lead to bigger and bigger things until a point of no return has been achieved and the devil seals you his.

In the last days, we are told that the love of men will wax cold.  This "coldness" of spirit will lead to crimes and sins of unimaginable proportion as the wicked are thrust into scenarios where they will be given temporary power over those who are attempting to keep themselves clean from the blood and sins of this final telestial generation.

If you are truly a charitable person, you would never even think to steal from another - especially if they are on an equal footing with you from a social standpoint (as a fellow human being - not from a status standpoint).  If you exercise charity, your heart and mind will be one of giving rather than taking.  Where chastity is involved (outside of marriage), there is taking from another that which is most precious - even if the "giver" freely gives of themselves (there is no coercion).  In today's world, among those I work and deal with, it is an expectation that chastity/virtue will be taken freely from each other by the third date.  It is kind of an unwritten rule that this is the case.  This rule dictates that you have a "right" to something that only God can give, legally - as the great Giver/Taker of life.  When we as mere mortals usurp that power from God, we become thieves.  When one steals for the first time as a child, the feeling that you are divine is cheapened as you lose a portion of that spirit of God.  As we lose the "giving" spirit and move into a selfish mode of the "taker", our innate sense and charitable spirit diminishes until we are aligned with the evil one in our base desires.  We then have only our interests in mind and do not, as Joseph said, "range the whole earth seeking to benefit man".

Once our chastity is gone, our charity is gone and we are bitter and selfish and are no longer in the image of Christ (who gave his entire life for his spiritual siblings), and resemble more the other once great one who sought his own will and not that of the Father.

Once we have lost that giving spirit, we then lose our believing spirit and as the wicked and adulterous generation who sought after a sign (Matthew 12:38-39), could not even recognize the Noble One who was among them.

And so there is a progression to things.  Line upon line (on a downward spiral) until one reaches the depraved state of the wicked who weep and gnash at those who attempt to do right because they will not be moved.

  1. Thought you might find this discussion, along the same vein, rather interesting... especially the vitriol.
