A THEORY ON THE PERSECUTION THAT IS COMING TO THE SAINTS

I have always said we are "wanna-be Jews" and that our fate is similarly tied to theirs - maybe just a slightly different "western" twist to it is all. The parallels from a fresh-water lake connected to a salty sea with no outflow to a renegade sect controlling our holy mount with a domed building that attempts to prevent holy prophecy from coming about.

What if we went through a type of "krystall nacht" here in the US? Here is a possibility of how the wicked could get so hacked off at us - and garner support from all sides to bring hell on earth down onto the heads of the "Mormons":

What if Mitt were successfully elected President, effectively alienating a majority of the left due to his LDS stance on the marriage question, and alienating all evangelicals (who traditionally just despise us) because of faith/works and a whole host of other doctrines. What if the economy finally tanked shortly after he is in office - thus making him a target of the national rancor after an entire sector has been suffering for the last 3-4 years.

What if the perfect storm were generated from this scenario?? How would we be treated by the general population? I would guess we would be driven from city to city - many barely escaping with their lives.

I see that as a possible scenario to fulfill most prophetic writ on the subject - and thus the last Civil War would commence and bring the causes about of a Just God. A slothful/back-sliding people would be chastened - and the hammer would fall on a nation that has chosen to lash out against that back-sliding people that is still attempting (on paper anyway), to fulfill their God-given role to be a light to the people as an example of Godly living.

I guess we will know in around 12 months. We live in perilous - but very exciting times. I can hardly wait to see what happens in the next chapter.

  1. I recently read an article suggesting that the major mud-slinging and persecutions of "Mormons" would begin before Romney could take the presidential seat. It would be instigated and pushed and spread by the Left as they seek to make Obama out to be the better choice over Romney if Romney were the Republican monimee. They would stir up hatred against us using such "evidence" as our racism, mysogynism/chauvinism, and homophobia, mostly, along with casting suspicion on our tendency to cloister together, separate from everyone else, and our "secret rituals" in the temples. This person, who is not a member of the "Mormon church" felt the need to warn members of that being a very likely scenario if Romney were to be the elected nominee.

  2. Interesting comments today, especially because these are some thoughts and questions I have pondered over recently. I'll never forget Elder Nelson's conference talk last April, I believe it was, when he stated that difficult times are coming when it will not be easy or popular to be a saint. Whether it is Mitt or some other event that finally triggers the persecution, I know that the principles Elder Nelson discussed, such as faith and maintaining an eternal perspective, will provide a way for faith filled, God fearing people to weather the coming storms and keep this nation from being completely overrun and/or destroyed. 3. The gist of the article is a little egocentric when most conservatives have the same ideals and values as Mormons. I know there are some in the fringes who write books miss stating our beliefs and extrapolating wild fantasy to sell their books, but the believers are relatively small, and powerless.
The Joseph Smith et al prophetic reference to the people being being chased from city to city is reference to the nation al large having to flee from city to city for safety as the whole land melts down into anarchy.
I believe the real threat comes when so many within the church desire to be like the rest of the world. Some seemingly benign ideals and values and political views of the world have attached themselves to many of the people, that we could find ourselves in a meltdown amongst ourselves when the economy collapses. Most Mormons when they say they believe in the Constitution, they don't recognize that the protections of that document have been eroded to the point that it does not represent in any form what the founders had in mind. This is why our socialist government is politically incapable of preventing the eventual economic melt down.
