A HEBER J GRANT QUOTE

While it is a relief - after enduring much persecution - to finally have friends, it is not always the best thing to aspire to.  The Kingdom will go forward whether we are well-liked, or not.  In fact, it has always been my opinion that when it is well-loved of the World, the end of the peculiarity of that people is near:

"My greatest happiness I find in the goodwill and friendship that has developed among all classes of people at home and abroad toward the LDS church during my lifetime. In place of early-day persecution and bitterness we now enjoy high regard and happy associations with all denominations." Heber J Grant 22 Nov 1938

Thankfully - we have the whole "gay-marriage" mess that we are about to shortly navigate which will nip our popularity in the bud.....
